 Your Hosts

Terry Parry and Randy Brachman

Terry and Randy met in Oakland in 1976.  Terry was an educator, while Randy was a Case Manager in the Federal Prison System.  They moved to the east coast, and after living in New Jersey (Terry's home) and Washington D.C. for over twenty years, they returned to California, settling in Arroyo Grande when Randy retired in 1999.

Randy and Terry began volunteering at the San Luis Obispo Animal Shelter in January, 2001.  Three months later, Charter Communications suggested that the volunteers film the shelter animals to be shown on their Public Access channel.

When Charter Cable suggested the shelter volunteers take some video to show on the Public Access channel to "fill" between other shows, Randy and Terry took the idea, and although they had no TV experience, developed a weekly program, wrote scripts, learned filming and editing techniques, trained a crew, and just three weeks later, they hosted the premier of RESCUE ME! The Pet Project.

The first show premiered on April 21, 2001, repeated three times a week.  The show received such a positive response, the schedule was expanded to 11 times each week.  We are now seen daily, to make room for other public access shows.

Randy and Terry also continue their other volunteer activities at the shelter.  Terry enjoys the interaction with the animals, dog-walking and cat-grooming.  In addition to filming and editing the show, Randy handles the Business and Information processing end of Animal Shelter Adoption Partners, Inc.

While at home, Terry likes to spend lots of time gardening, at the gym, visiting friends, and handling all interactions between ASAP and the world.  When Randy's not doing some home maintenance job, he may be playing around with the guitar or piano.  He really spends most of his time on his computer, where he recently authored a self-help book, "How To Get To Tomorrow".  Most of his family have read it.
